NLS is honored to have guest speaker Dr James Spivey MD, the Robert Craig Chair of Internal Medicine for Dignity Health Medical Group, at our next Education Meeting in September.  In addition to overseeing the entire Internal Medicine department, Dr Spivey is an Internist, Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, and provides services to patients within the St. Joseph’s Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation.

Dr. Spivey’s expertise includes over 37 years of combined experience in acute and chronic liver diseases, hepatobiliary malignancy and liver transplantation, and he is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology. He is currently a member of the American Association for the study of Liver Disease, the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Transplant Society.

Dr. Spivey received his medical degree from Tulane University. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as well as one fellowship in Hepatology at the University of Miami, and one fellowship in gastroenterology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
